What is a Shabbat Service Like?

According to halakha (Jewish religious law), Shabbat is observed from a few minutes before sunset on Friday evening until the appearance of three stars in the sky on Saturday night. Shabbat is ushered in by lighting candles and reciting a blessing.

Weather-Related Closures

Storms do not always show up as forecasted, yet we do not want to put anyone in jeopardy traveling in snowy or icy conditions. Cancellations will be announced on the Beth Machaseh Messianic Congregation website.

Rabbi Emmanuel will determine a service cancellation by 8:30 a.m. on a Shabbat morning.

If the weather takes a turn for the worse after services have begun, Rabbi Emmanuel will make the decision to shorten or cancel after-service activities.
